What if you can use your watercraft for more than just one activity ?
Recently, I came across this interesting product:

I tried windsurfing this summer , and I loved it ! The only downside - loading/unloading, and transporting the rig to the beach can be a hassle.
With the you don't need an expensive car rack or a trailer--it fits into car trunks and boat lockers for easy transport. More than that, it fits into a convenient carry case that can even be checked as normal airline luggage!
As for multi- use, I tried my windsurfer for paddleboarding. Even for somebody (relatively) fit like me, it was hard to maintain my balance ( though, I have to admit that my windsurfer is a bit narrower than a standard SUP or a beginner windsurfer). The Aquaglide is a sailboard that caters specifically for first time surfers. This board is inflatable, lightweight and ideal for learning how to navigate the winds.
As for the price, Aquaglide costs a fraction of the price of any other sailboat, windsurfer, paddleboard or kayak, and offers a much wider range of use. You still can find 15-20 year-old windsurfing rigs for about $100 on Craigslist, but if I ever have a chance to find the Aquaglide, I am buying it !
