Extreme Glacier Surfing In Alaska Video

What do you do when you see sheer ice faces of over 400 feet calved away from a glacier, crashing into the waters below and setting off tsunami like waves of up to 25 feet ?

You surf those suckers !

World champion big wave surfers, Garrett McNamara and Kealii Mamala rode into surfing history when they towed into a monster tsunami created by Child’s Glacier in South-Central Alaska. In order to catch them, the surfers would wait up to several hours in the icy water for a glacier to fall, then chase down the ensuing wave on their jetski and attempt to ride with being injured or killed by ice and rock debris.
These breaking waves that peele across a pebble-bottom river bank for more than 300 yards, offer rides... of up to one minute long.

The question is - Is it worth it ? Is this new surfing spin-off ? new, " unique" concept ?

Well, stoke is stoke, even in Alaska...
