Longboarding Puyallup's Riverwalk Trail

Puyallup's Riverwalk Trail is approximately 5 miles, relatively flat, not busy, and mainly used by pedestrians. During "fishing season" the trail, that runs along the Puyallup River, is swamped with fishermen. It has a few access points, with the main ones are at the Puyallup Skate park or behind Fred Meyers.

I'm glad I stopped by to check out this trail, as it turned out the Riverwalk Trail is part of the Foothills Trail.

I read about this trail a few years ago, and guess, now a big portion of the trail has been completed. As far as I know, right now the trail stretches from Puyallup to Buckley. Plans are also underway to connect the trail east to Enumclaw, and further , all the way to Mt Rainier.

The trail used to be a railroad line. Traveling along the Foothills Trail will be a great recreational opportunity and a chance to imagine what this area might have looked like when riding a train was the way most people got around.

There are still several portions of the Riverwalk Trail that are not complete as of Oct. 2011 - the trail ends at the corner of 8th Ave. NE & 5th St. NE by the bridge. It starts up again at the east end of 2nd Ave. NE where it ends at the river. It then continues to the Sumner city limits (behind the Storini Restaurant).
