Cross Country Skiing At The Summit At Snoqualmie

Looking for some winter fun beyond snowboarding or downhill skiing? Try cross country skiing !

Using the recommendations from 100 Best Cross Country Ski Trails in Washington that I mentioned in my previous post, I went XC ( cross country skiing ) at the Summit at Snoqualmie.

Nordic Center at the Summit at Snoqualmie ( also known as The Summit East ) offers an incredible system of trails that boasts a network of over 50km. It's an amazing place for cross country ( nordic ) skiers and snowshoers of all ages and skill levels. Beginners and families can easily hone their skills, while experts can take on the challenge of steep terrain and an array of un-groomed runs.

Go slow and take in the gorgeous mountain backdrops, or pick up the pace and get in a great workout. Whatever style of cross-country skier you may be, the choice of terrain and trails is endless.

Close to Seattle, this popular cross country destination offers twenty-eight trails to choose from, a main lodge with heated bathrooms and food service, two warming huts to relax in, a rental shop for gear you don’t own or simply forgot to bring, lessons aimed at making your day on skis more enjoyable in this mountainous terrain (they teach you how to go down hills).

Only an hour drive away from Seattle, you can get a great full-body workout surrounded by amazing views, and still make it back to downtown for happy hour !

For most, cross-country skiing is a slower, gentler and more reflective way of experiencing the outdoors in winter. But it can be an adrenaline sport, too. Cross country skiing uses just about every muscle in your body, it's one of the most demanding cardio sports in the world.

The pleasure of cross country skiing can take your mind off the stresses of the daily grind, whether you are skiing by yourself, with your special someone or are enjoying the day with the whole family. You’ll get a great workout while enjoying the outdoors, and the scenery sure beats the view at your local health club.
