More Than Just A Sleeping Bag

I've had my North Face sleeping bag for about 3 years now, and I'm still pretty happy with it. When I was shopping for a sleeping bag, I had no idea about temperature ratings, goose vs. synthetic fill, weight, shape...I just went with the cheapest I could find.

Sleeping bag technology has come a long way from the days of cowboy bedrolls. These days, there are a number of high-tech materials and designs available to keep you warm and comfortable during the coldest outings. But for some people these are not the only characteristics they are looking for....

ChumBuddy is 7 feet tall sleeping bag shaped as a shark, hand sewn and is filled with 30 pounds of soft fill designed " to make sharks more cuddly ". May be not practical, but might be a good present for one of your surfing buddies...

Concerned about getting mauled by a bear when you're out camping? Maybe if you sleep in this Bear Sleeping Bag, you won't have to worry about that. Let's just hope you won't be mistaken for a real bear by a drunk redneck...

Not being a Star Wars nerd, first I thought it was a resting skier in this Tauntaun sleeping bag. Turned out this bag recreates the scene from The Empire Strikes Back (?) ( I actually saw that piece of crap movie, and still can't understand how it has become a cult...)

Who needs a hammock when you have a Cocoon ? Hang it off a tree or a cliff face or anywhere else you need to. Comfort level is questionable ( though I can say the same about hammocks )

"Multiple Use" as applied to a piece of gear is a foundation principle of lightweight backpacking. Can you use an emergency blanket as a sleeping bag ? What else ? How about a body bag ? That's right, a cadaver pouch as your sleeping bag...

Do you enjoy some x-rated camping ? Sexy Hotness sleeping bag is a perfect bag for "getting busy" in the woods. There is even kama sutra print on the interior lining and a convenient middle zipper that is strategically located for easy crotch access.

But our number one choice is Selk'bag !!

I remember, when they first came out a few years ago, the price was close to $300...Not only does it cost less now, the bag has been segnifically improved: became lighter, more durable, thermal collars around head and neck along with exaggerated draft tubes made it warmer. From what I read, these Selk bags are not as warm as sleeping bags, but the trick here is to buy a size larger, so you can layer up on your interior clothes underneath.
