New Year, new name, new project

Happy 2011 y'all !

First, I'd like to thank all my readers for all their support and feedback I got in 2010 through comments, emails, Facebook and Twitter !

In my previous post I wrote about my plans, goals and dreams for this year, but there is one dream I didn't dare to share.

In 2008 I started Washington Adventures blog without even knowing what blogging was. At that time Google's blogger.com was just a cool (and more important - free ! ) place to share my adventures and pictures with some close friends. It wasn't till last year when I started posting 3-4 posts a week, and ended up on the first page of Google search for "washington adventures". Since then, I feel like the blog has gone ( way ) beyond its title.

That's why, this year, I am thinking about renaming my blog.

But that's not the big dream that I have.

The past two years, researching and planning my adventures, I've realized that THERE ISN'T A SINGLE WEB SITE ON INTERNET DEDICATED ENTIRELY TO ACTION SPORTS ( outdoor sports/ action adventures-whatever you call them ).

Take for example our state. How much time will you have to spend to find information on fun activities/adventures, outfitters, places, compare prices, get more details or talk to somebody in person ?

I like experiencewa.com ( the official website of Washington State Tourism ), but even that site gives very general and vague information about "things to do " in our state. Plus, it so cluttered with other "resources" ( lodging/ dining/arts/ culture...) that if you are looking JUST for things to do, it gets very confusing and time consuming. Even when you do find an outfitter's web site ( which hasn't been updated since 1999 ) it's not enough to make an informed decision.

THAT'S WHY...

I want to design a web site that would serve as the web's only go-to resource for adventure travel, outdoor sports, adventures and activities, first, with emphasis on Washington state, an then ...who knows...

It will be easy to navigate, detail oriented, and backed up by personal experiences from my blog and customers feedback.

So....

If you've been following this blog for some time, how would you name it ?

And...

Do you think it would be a web site some people find useful ?

I have found the same to be true about Texas...and have been trying to target my blog (My Life Outdoors) as a go to source for Texas outdoor adventure sports.

I am glad you think it's a good idea. Nowadays, I think ,web sites are way too cluttered and disorganized. And the amount of information can be overwhelming for most people.

I wish you good luck in Texas, and if you want to exchange ideas, I'd be happy to hear from you !
