Land Paddling Around Stanley Park In Vancouver B.C.

No comments:

Vancouver B.C is a very popular tourist destination, and was also named the Top Destination in Canada in TripAdvisor's 2016 Travellers' Choice awards, and was chosen as the best place to live in North America (and number five in the world) in Mercer's 2016 Quality of Living survey.

The city offers travellers both outstanding opportunities for outdoor adventure, as well as sightseeing. Framed by miles of beaches and rugged mountains, with more than 200 parks in between there is never shortage of things to do and to see.

When I first visited Vancouver in 2009, I did all the "regular touristy activities" : explored it's downtown, took a stroll on the famous Capilano Bridge, skied at Grouse Mountain,  had lunch at Granville Island's market, and got schooled at Telus World of Science.

But my most memorable experience was probably biking and hiking around Stanley Park...

Rock Climbing At Seattle REI

They say that you become a true Washingtonian after the first time you step into REI. The Seattle's flagship store is probably the same symbol of Washington ( outdoors ) as Seattle's Space Needle or Mt Rainier.

What began as a group of 23 mountain climbing buddies is now the nation's largest consumer cooperative.

Everything you need for your most popular outdoor activities- gear for camping, hiking, climbing, cycling, paddling, snow sports, clothing, footwear, and much more- you can find here.

Frogfish Fin - The Only SUP Fin You'll Ever Need !

Choosing the right fin for your paddleboard is crucial for your board's performance, and the conditions you paddle in. The design of the fin also affects speed, stability and how easily you can turn your board. But the most important feature of any fin is probably its rugged durability/long livity that will keep you surfing without paying through your nose for a constant stream of replacement fins.

If you're anything like me, chances are, you've broken quite a few paddleboard fins.

Some of the most common causes for breaking your fin could be :

Washington Adventures : Take Your Kids Surfing

If you can surf in Washington state, you can surf anywhere !

Surfing in Washington is a pretty miserable experience. Dipping occasionally into the mid-40s but generally hovering around 50 degrees, the ocean water temperature is just one of the "discomforts", along with gale-force winds, massive swells, demonic currents, and razor-sharp rocks.

Why You Shouldn't Teach Your Kids How To Ski/Snowboard

No comments:

In my previous post "Introduce Your Kids To The Joy Of Skiing",  I wrote how many parents turn their kids off from learning how to ski/snowboard by being too pushy or over-enthusiastic. I mentioned that sometimes they forget that while it is important to learn a skill, it's even more important to make it fun and enjoyable experience.

The point of being on the mountain at a young age is about being in an outdoor environment, wearing ski gear, and getting comfortable with sliding on snow.

While I want to make sure that whenever my son learns something new, he's having fun,  I also want to ensure he learns how to do it right from the start.
