Being ExtraHyperActive, we're always on a lookout for new adventures and experiences ! And in Washington state, there is never shortage of awesome and exciting things to do ! All year round ! Indoors and outdoors !

And recently, we added another epic adventure to our Bucket List - indoor skydiving !

After doing my first tandem skydiving jump, and trying out tandem BASE jumping, I didn't think that indoor skydiving would be that exciting for me. But I thought, for my 9 year old, it would be a great memorable experience !

Exploring And Hiking In Point Defiance Park, Tacoma, WA

As I wrote in my previous post, Tacoma’s waterfront, from Schuster pkwy to Ruston Way is considered to be Tacoma’s version of Seattle’s Alki Beach. This place is very popular among fitness and outdoor enthusiasts. Whether you enjoy jogging, biking, longboarding, scuba diving, kayaking, paddleboarding, parasailing, boating, or just want to go on a nice sunny motorcycle ride, Tacoma waterfront is the place to go all year round!

Kites have a history that spans thousands of years of learning, adventure, and experimentation in aviation. They can be used over land, water or ice. Power kites can generate extreme amounts of pulling power to tow you on your kiteboard, longboard, mountain board, snowboard, skis, kayak, and even a bike ( if you are too lazy to pedal ):

Tandem Whitewater Kayaking

Tandem recreational kayaking is a great way to spend some quality time on the water ! Unlike a single kayak you are able to bond with your passenger, learn to work together as a team, and enjoy each other’s company. Tandem kayaks are great for family bonding; you can guide your family as your significant other and child enjoy the scenery or fishing.

Tandem sea kayaks allow you to paddle faster, cover longer distances, and feel safer in rough sea waters. People with little or no experience of paddling a kayak can find comfort sharing a set with more experienced paddlers. Those never having spent a time in a kayak you can paddle out in the ocean surf accompanied by an experienced tour guide with confidence.

But what about whitewater kayaking ?

From my personal experience, I found whitewater kayaking to be more intimidating, harder to learn, and more dangerous than recreational, and sea kayaking. And until recently, there were no tandem whitewater kayaks.

Autumn Paddleboarding At Owen Beach in Tacoma, WA

Owen Beach at Point Defiance Park in Tacoma is a great place year around. Hike along the scenic waterfront promenade to the Boathouse Marina, have a picnic, view ferry boats and fishing craft, or rent a kayak for a few hours of leisure paddling on the sound ( during summer months ).

It was 3 years ago at this very place I learned about stand up paddleboarding ( SUPing ).
